Ice Park offers the best in family entertainment!

Atlanta Ice Marvels or AIM was formed in 2010 by Joel McRae, Victor Dagatan, Matt Harden and Jim Duggan, for the purpose of competing in the Ice Art World Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska.  In 2011, the team came in 4th place in the multi-block realistic category in their first competition as a team.  The team was led by Captain Joel McRae, and the sculpture is the Blue Fairy turning Pinocchio into a boy, Title "Star Light, Star Bright."  In 2012, the multi-block team will be led by Captian Victor Dagatan, along with Joel McRae, Jeff Meyers, and Jim Duggan.  The Single Block team will consist of Captian Victor Dagatan and Jim Duggan.  The competition is in late February early March and you can watch the teams progress via live web cams at icealaska.com.  We will be sending out all the information you will need about this year's trip via the newsletter, please join our mailing list if you have not already.

Ice Alaska is in its 23rd year hosting the largest annual ice art competitions and exhibitions worldwide.  The Fairbanks event, the World Ice Art Championships, has grown to a month long attraction involving over 70 teams from all over the world.  The competitions, and the accompanying kids park, attract more than 100 ice artists and approximately 45,000 visitors from Alaska and all over the world.

In the 2012 competitions, there were single block and multi block competitions.

  • Jim Duggan and Glenn Hughes competed in the single block competition together for the first time and placed well. Victor Dagatan competed with Junichi Nakamura and won first place in the world in the single block competition.

  • The top ranking team from the United States was our team, AIM, who took the 5th place medal, the members were Victor Dagatan, Joel McRae, Jeff Meyers and Jim Duggan.

Ice Fest is a fundraiser hosted by the team in partnership with Children’s Charities each year the weekend before the Super Bowl at Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell. In 2015 the fundraiser will take place on Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th. Come out and see our artists hard at work in support of a great cause!
